Baghdad police attack 'kills 11'
|
A suicide bomber has killed 11 people at a police recruitment centre in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, police say.
Sixteen people were wounded in Sunday's attack, they added - which one report suggested was carried out by an attacker on a bicycle.
The victims were queuing outside the academy when the bomber struck.
The level of violence in Iraq has dipped significantly over the past year, but it remains a feature of daily life for many Iraqis.
Police recruitment centres have been a popular target for insurgents.
Reports on Sunday's attack suggested eight serving policemen and three would-be recruits lost their lives.
But one report contradicts that, quoting unnamed police officials as saying two people died.
